Stellantis and CATL to Invest up to €4.1 Billion in Joint Venture

🔋 Stellantis and CATL will jointly invest up to €4.1 billion to establish a lithium iron phosphate battery plant in Zaragoza, Spain. The carbon-neutral facility will begin production by late 2026 and could achieve a capacity of up to 50 GWh, contingent on market conditions and government support.
The venture, split equally between Stellantis and CATL, enhances LFP battery production for affordable and durable electric vehicles in Europe.
A 2023 memorandum of understanding secures local LFP battery supplies and advances EV technology development.
Stellantis aims for carbon net-zero by 2038, utilising dual-chemistry battery strategies.
CATL’s experience in Germany and Hungary supports its role in the collaboration.
This partnership highlights a shared commitment to decarbonisation and innovation, strengthening the EV ecosystem while advancing sustainability goals, with regulatory approvals being expected by 2025.
CLEAN ENERGY
PowerCo to Produce 3 TWh of Green Energy

☀️ PowerCo has secured partnerships with Alterric and EnviTec Biogas to power its Salzgitter gigafactory with renewable energy starting in 2025. The agreement ensures 240 GWh of wind power and 65 GWh of solar power annually, providing a total of 3 TWh over a decade.
The collaboration reduces the site’s carbon footprint by approximately 115,000 tonnes of CO2 annually compared to Germany’s 2023 electricity mix.
Alterric will supply 2.4 TWh of wind energy from four independent projects in Lower Saxony.
EnviTec Biogas AG, diversifying into solar energy, will deliver 650 GWh of solar power from a Brandenburg solar park financed by the von Lehmden Group.
This initiative reflects Volkswagen and PowerCo’s commitment to a sustainable battery supply chain while contributing to the broader energy transition in Europe.
TECHNOLOGIES
You may see Electric Flying Taxis in Abu Dhabi soon

// Archer Aviation
📱 Archer Aviation has partnered with the UAE and Abu Dhabi stakeholders to launch electric air taxi operations, aiming for the region’s first commercial eVTOL flight.
Archer will be the MENA region’s first eVTOL manufacturer and air taxi service operator, supported by the Abu Dhabi Investment Office and other aviation entities.
Key partners include Abu Dhabi Airports, Falcon Aviation Services, Etihad Aviation Training, the General Civil Aviation Authority, and Global Air Navigation Services.
The consortium will develop regulatory frameworks, vertiports, pilot training, and maintenance services to enable seamless eVTOL integration.
Archer’s Midnight aircraft is expected to debut in Abu Dhabi next year, with robust support for certification and operations already underway.
This partnership highlights Archer’s commitment to advanced and sustainable mobility. It seems with every day that passes, we get one step closer to living in a sci-fi movie.
